IFRS 18 transition pack
An Excel pack that takes you from the statement of profit or loss you published under IAS 1 to the one IFRS 18 requires – line by line – for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027. It classifies every income and expense item, restates the comparative year and builds the notes and the transition reconciliation, with a fully worked example for a fictitious group.
What it does
Assesses the impact: 30 questions on profit or loss, expenses, performance measures, the other statements, transition and wider effects such as covenants and systems – each with what to do and where the pack deals with it.
Classifies every item into the operating, investing, financing, income taxes and discontinued operations categories. Pick from 52 types of income and expense and the category is suggested with its IFRS 18 paragraph, including the rules for entities that invest in assets or provide financing to customers as a main business activity and the lender policy choice. Overrides need a reason.
Builds the new statement of profit or loss for the current and comparative years, with operating profit, profit before financing and income taxes and the optional subtotals, and checks every category total against the classification.
Prepares the specified expenses note for function line items – depreciation, amortisation, employee benefits, impairment losses and inventory write-downs by line item, with a description of each function line (IFRS 18.82–83).
Identifies management-defined performance measures and reconciles each one to the most directly comparable subtotal, with the income tax and non-controlling interest effect of every reconciling item, EBITDA-type bridges and adjusted per-share amounts.
Restates interest and dividends in the statement of cash flows and moves the indirect method to start from operating profit (IAS 7 as amended).
Produces the IFRS 18.C3 reconciliation of every line item, the bridge from the old operating profit to the new one, draft wording for the transition note and a 41-item disclosure checklist tailored to your answers – with 22 automatic checks.
What you get
One Excel workbook (.xlsx) with Instructions, a classification guide, the blank pack (up to 80 items, 38 line items and four MPMs) and a worked example for a fictitious consumer-products group with a mixed function-and-nature presentation, three MPMs, non-controlling interests and adjusted earnings per share.
Clearly marked input cells, protected formulas and built-in checks, with a status line on every tab.
Works in Microsoft Excel 2010 or later (Windows or Mac). No macros.
Scope
For entities applying IFRS Accounting Standards – as issued by the IASB, or as adopted in the EU or the UK – in consolidated, separate or individual financial statements. It covers the statement of profit or loss, the specified expenses and MPM notes, the IAS 7 changes and the transition reconciliation. Other comprehensive income, the layout of the statements of financial position and changes in equity, segment information and interim statements appear only as checklist reminders. Banks, insurers and investment entities will need further judgements beyond the cases illustrated.
